“This is a luxury poolhouse,” Pella Field Manager Andy Grzebielski said, so the owner of the estate near Lincoln had especially high expectations. He told sales rep Brennan Klassen he wanted to integrate the outdoors into his poolscape at will but have the means of securely closing off the pool in the cold winter months. “He basically wanted to be able to move a wall out of the way. The client wanted something top-of-the-line and something that nobody else had,” Grzebielski said.
Klassen and Lincoln Field Manager Mahlon Bowling worked with the homeowner to customize a Pella product that could create a moveable barrier to the outside: Architect Series Bifold Patio Doors that stack neatly to the side. Adjacent is a pass-through door for normal daily usage. Brent Wilcox, owner of Banded Construction, personally handled the installation of the 8-foot-tall, five-panel door that extends to 16 feet wide.
“That installer you see in the video is 6’3” but he looks like a normal-sized guy next to these doors,” Grzebielski said, explaining that standard doors are 6 feet, 8 inches tall. “I don’t know of a lot of companies that have these type of doors.”
The system opens for entertaining and a view of an incredible backyard poised to bloom after the weather warms up, he added. “It will be ready for the first day of pool season.”
